We hope you will worship with us! We get it; showing up to a new place full of new faces can be pretty intimidating. We’d like for you to feel at ease about your visit by hearing a little bit of what you can expect at the Kaysville Church of Christ. When you first arrive, you will probably be greeted by a few people. We will do our best not to overwhelm you as we help you get seated and situated. Our Bible classes and worship aim to be Scriptural, following the Bible as the authority as we seek to worship in Spirit and in truth.
What does your worship look like?
Our worship service begins at 10:30 am and typically lasts until noon. It is patterned after the New Testament and will consist of the following:
We do not pressure our visitors to participate in any of the above acts of worship. Certainly, we would encourage you to participate with us in worship to God, but you are under no obligation to do anything outside your comfort zone. You may be asked to fill out a visitor’s card with some contact information, but feel free to decline this request if you prefer.
What does your preacher teach?
In 2 Timothy 4:2, Paul instructed the evangelist (or preacher) to “preach the word.” Our preacher here is sure to do just that. He is accountable before God for the things he preaches and teaches, as well as the things he fails to preach and teach. All of our sermons and Bible classes are derived from the Bible. If you are seeking to learn more about a specific question, topic or Bible verse, send our preacher an email at: kaysvillechurch@gmail.com.
What if I have kids?
That’s great; we hope they come with you! We have many kids who worship with us. In fact, our auditorium is often filled with noise from our younger members. We’d rather hear the noise of children than not have them present. Our parents do their best to keep children focused, but we know this can be a challenge, especially while children are young.
Separate from our auditorium, we have a nursery for small children. This area, as well as our foyer, is equipped with speakers so those who need to step out with children can still hear the worship service.
If you have kids, we’d also love to invite you to come for Bible class! We have classes for children of all ages, even as young as one year old.
Who are your pastors?
In the New Testament, local churches were overseen by multiple men, each from the local church and appointed by the local church itself. This office is referenced in the Bible by three descriptive names: Elder (1 Timothy 4:14), Overseer (Hebrews 13:17) and Shepherd (Acts 20:38-31). Please notice that the Bible uses all three of these terms interchangeably, which indicates that they are referring to the same role. (Acts 20:17-28)
The religious world commonly uses the word “pastor” to refer to a variety of roles from someone who does the preaching, to someone who oversees the church, to someone who is in charge of a specific ministry. The term pastor in the Bible is commonly translated as shepherd, elder or overseer. These are involved men who sacrifice themselves for the spiritual growth of the flock. Their interest is in saving souls, so if you have any spiritual questions, our pastors would be happy to speak with you.
Different from pastors, we also have evangelists who preach and teach God’s word and deacons who serve the church in various roles.
What should I wear?
We have no dress code and as believers, we do our best to follow passages like James 2:1-7, making sure we don’t treat anyone differently on the basis of their attire or appearance. Some people will be dressed up and others will be more causal. When coming to worship, the focus is never on the attire one wears, but rather the heart of a worshipper. We know people will still feel more comfortable knowing what others might be wearing. Typically, our men wear anything from jeans and a shirt to dress slacks and a suit jacket. Our women will wear anything from jeans and a shirt to dresses.
